Jonathan McAfee

“In my capacity as a painter based in Evergreen, Colorado, I specialize in the human form and the expressive potential of paint. The core of my work is founded on the creation of movement and energy through thick, gestural brushstrokes. Beyond delving into the psychological aspects of portraiture, my paintings often explore themes of identity, memory, and emotion. In the pursuit of my craft, I draw inspiration from a diverse array of artists, such as Francis Bacon, Willem de Kooning, and Lucian Freud, whose exceptional abilities in capturing the human condition in a raw and visceral way have greatly influenced my approach.
