Essentially the work emerges from the physical process of painting, painting over, wiping out, juxtaposing the construction of a picture with the destruction of its materials (sanding, tearing, staining, or overpainting).

Underneath the layers of abstraction and painting over hotel stationery, fragments of texts and logos jump to the surface like a jack-in-the-box. The canvas becomes a palette of inkjet prints as the painting upon it takes shape.

With each layer, parts of the overpainted surface are abraded, having paint shining through from the other side of the print. The artwork is full of undifferentiated brushmarks, splashes of paint, images, and patterns — splayed all over the canvas.
