An overpainting of a luggage tag by the Hudson Hotel, New York, that is first executed in oil on the printed matter, is scanned, processed on the computer, printed on different kinds of materials, and then reprocessed and recombined on canvas. »What interests me is how the mind works and how dreams come together from things you’ve seen, read, and experienced both years ago and yesterday«, the artist says. Hope and history have an ethereal quality — foreground and background, object and subject, figure and abstraction, paint, logos and text merge and dissolve to produce an unsettling atmosphere in which all elements are equivalent, to find a way to bring the world in, as much as getting an inner world out.
