When I was 17, I spent about a year in a professional painter’s studio near my hometown in Bilbao and started painting in oils. When I left school, I hesitated between studying art or philosophy. I chose philosophy. From then on I followed a typical academic career and, although I continued to draw and paint, I did so without any professional or public ambition. I left university in 2002 and since then I have focused on my artistic career professionally.
