Harold M. Stewart
Born in NY, at the age of 12 I move with my mother, Jazz singer Gloria Stewart to Barcelona. My travels have taken me to live in different countries: Sweden, Belgium, Ivory Coast, India, Morocco etc. So my work is a dialogue between cultures, a tribute to the richness of Oriental and African art, deeply influenced by the Al Fayoum portraits and the mastery of Goya, Velázquez and Josep Tapiró. I’m a self-taught painter, an explorer between the figurative and abstract, who finds his voice in the imaginary portrait.  

At the age of twelve years old, I left normal school because I went to Spain with my mother and my sister. From there on, my school was the artistic environment of Barcelona. Through my mother I met artists, writers, musicians that taught me what is art. More or less the situation was that I was teaching myself with help from my mother.
