Donatella Nardari
Of Italian origin, her parents emigrated to South Africa in the early 1960s where she grew up. She started drawing at an early age, but went on to study music. In Italy, where she lived for a period after her studies, she found ample inspiration for her interest in the making of art . She tried her hand at illustration and subsequently had a calendar published based on a Venetian folk story: "Petin e Petee". She held her first exhibition of illustrations in 1995 at the "Oratorio dell'Assunta" in the town of Conegliano, Veneto.

She attended art workshops when time permitted. Relevant workshops were in Sarmede, Italy under the guidance of Linda Wolfsgrüber. In South Africa, influential teachers were the late Ernst de Jongh, who taught oil painting techniques and Greg Kerr, whose workshops inspired the thinking behind the image.

She has held two solo exhibitions in Italy: "Colori" in 2017 and "Rocambole" in 2019. In South Africa she has participated in group exhibitions with JvH Gallery, Association of the Arts and Terra Contemporary in Pretoria and Blacksmith Yard and RK Contemporary in the Cape. She was finalist in 2023 and 2024 in the Namibia Wildlife Art Competition and in several online competitions and she won a purchase award from CollexArt in 2024
