Danut Lucian Tolnacs
Art has been a constant presence throughout my life. While my practice began as a self-directed journey, it has been shaped through sustained research, discipline, and long-term commitment. I have dedicated countless hours to refining my visual language and technical precision, with a particular affinity for drawing media such as pencil and charcoal, which allow for immediacy, gesture, and emotional depth.

I graduated from Constanța Maritime University in 2001 with a degree in Naval Electromechanical Engineering and built a long career as a Chief Engineer Officer. Alongside this technical path, art remained a constant inner calling. In December 2019, I returned to drawing, marking a personal and creative rebirth. My practice focuses on expressive figurative drawing and mixed media, exploring introspection, vulnerability, and emotional tension between realism and abstract expression. I am currently a first-year Master’s student in Visual Arts at Ovidius University of Constanța.

I have participated in several national and international exhibitions, including the BBA Prize (2024), presenting works such as Introspective Lighting of Me, Solitary Thoughts, and From Chaos Comes the Order. In 2025, I exhibited Echoes of the Renaissance at the For Hatay International Invited and Juried Online Exhibition in Turkey and will participate in Hatay 2 (February 2026). My work was also shown in Madrid at Escuela de Arte 3 within WEARTABLE – Art to Wear (December 2025) and in Constanța at the Theodor Burada Cultural Center (January 2026). My most recent solo exhibition, Omonocrom, took place in July 2025 in Medgidia, Romania.
