Chris Bowman graduated from the following institutions: Harrogate College of Art (1975–1977) – Diploma in Advertising Design and Display. Liverpool John Moores University (Liverpool Art College) (1977–1980) – BA Hons (1st Class) in Film and Animation. Royal College of Art, London (1981–1984) – MA in Film and Animation. While attending the RCA he received the following awards:    J Walter Thompson Advertising Award; and    The Silver Award for experimental film (Uberhausen Animation Film Festival)
Chris has built a distinguished career as a solo artist, creating installation media, sculpture, film, light, animation, and photography. He has received funding from the Australia Council for the Arts, the Australian Film Commission, and received multiple commissions from the Sydney Olympic Park Authority.
Chris has an extensive exhibition record, showcasing his work in public events and galleries in Australia and internationally. His record includes solo exhibitions, group shows and site-specific installations. Chris has exhibited at the Powerhouse Museum, NG Gallery, BachHouse Museum (Germany), Artspace, Gallery Lane Cove, Melbourne Performing Arts Centre, University of Technology Sydney, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, among others.
