Catarina Mendes Garcia

Catarina Garcia (1986; Lisbon, Portugal), is a fine artist (painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture). My practice begins with observational drawing. Rather than following predetermined compositions, I develop each piece through an intuitive process where forms, relationships, and meanings gradually emerge, balancing intention with discovery. At the core of my work is an exploration of how visual language can give form to experiences that exist only in our inner lives. Drawing on themes such as music, thought, and perception, I investigate how painting, drawing, and sculpture can translate intangible experience into visual form - through vibrant colour and an expressive line.
