Cameron de Bruyn
Cameron de Bruyn is a contemporary fine artist based in Pretoria, South Africa. Working primarily with handmade paper, pen, and oil pastels, his practice explores texture, gesture, and the expressive potential of mark-making. Through layered surfaces and subtle tonal shifts, his work reflects an engagement with memory, landscape, and the quiet traces left by time and human presence.   Through a disciplined drawing practice and a sensitivity to material, Cameron de Bruyn continues to develop a body of work that reflects both personal reflection and environmental observation.

Experience: Cameron de Bruyn also has 8 years of experience working in the mobile development space which helped fund most of his art projects.   Education: 2024: Diane Victor Drawing Workshop; Johann van Heerden’s Art Gallery, Pretoria 2016 - 2018: WeThinkCode_ certification in computer programming 2012 - 2015: BEng Chemical Engineering at the University of Pretoria (Incomplete due to finances) 2011: BSc Biological Science at the University of Pretoria (Incomplete due to illness)

In 2024, de Bruyn presented Ancestral Erosions at Johann van Heerden’s Art Gallery in Pretoria, a body of work that examined the intersection of place, ancestry, and the slow transformation of natural and cultural landscapes. In September 2025, de Bruyn was selected to attend the Manang Artist Residency in the Himalayas, Nepal. This international residency provided an opportunity to develop new work within a remote mountain environment, expanding his engagement with landscape and the physical processes that shape it.
