Apali James Wacha
Born in 1992, Wacha James is a Ugandan sculptor and painter whose work explores memory, spirituality, cultural loss, and transformation through reclaimed materials. Based in Uganda, James began his artistic journey through painting, spending years investigating form, texture, and emotional expression on canvas before turning fully toward sculpture in 2025. His transition into working with wood marked a significant evolution in his practice, driven by a desire to engage more directly with materiality and to create objects capable of carrying the emotional and historical weight of African memory.
