Out of the Light – A Fusion of Color, Form, and Transformation
The "Out of the Light" series is an exploration of movement, transformation, and perception—where form emerges, dissolves, and reappears in a fluid dance of color and texture. In these works, I embrace the organic spontaneity of oil painting, allowing each composition to take shape naturally through the layering of pigments, soft transitions, and expressive brushwork. The boundaries between abstraction and representation blur, creating a space where the viewer is invited to discover, interpret, and connect.
At the heart of this series lies the play between visibility and dissolution. My subjects—often inspired by nature and wildlife—are not confined by strict outlines but evolve through the interaction of light and shadow, contrast and blending, stillness and movement. A bird, a fish, or a squirrel may only be partially visible, seemingly caught in a fleeting moment before vanishing into the surrounding hues. Each painting is an invitation to look beyond the obvious, to embrace the intuitive energy of color and form.
A signature element of this series is the integration of the artist’s palette into the composition. The colors that traditionally serve as tools in the creative process become part of the artwork itself, reinforcing the idea that art is always in motion, evolving, and shaped by both intention and accident. The visible color remnants and blended textures are traces of this ongoing transformation, a reflection of the dynamic tension between control and spontaneity.
This concept extends beyond technique—it mirrors the way we experience the world. So much of what we see is shaped by the way light moves, how shadows shift, and how our minds fill in the spaces between what is known and what is suggested. The forms in this series are neither fixed nor fully revealed; they exist in a state of constant becoming. They ask the viewer to participate, to allow the eye to wander, to complete the image in their own way.
This series is also a meditation on impermanence and perception—how moments appear and disappear, how meaning fluctuates depending on perspective, how the act of looking itself shapes what is seen. The animals and figures that emerge from the color fields exist somewhere between presence and absence, embodying a sense of movement that is both real and imagined. The boundaries of their forms are fluid, never fully solid, as if they are slipping between worlds—between shadow and light, past and present, memory and reality.
There is something deeply human about this act of recognition, of piecing together an image that is only partially given. It speaks to the way we make sense of our surroundings, the way we search for patterns, the way we find meaning in the abstract. Each painting in the series becomes a reflection of this process, inviting the viewer to linger in that space between certainty and suggestion, between clarity and ambiguity, between what is seen and what is felt.
